Hi Gina,

Here is a great site for examples of translations. Essentially a fill in the blank.

http://www.comunesofitaly.org/Links/RuthNerud.htm

What is the name of the comune?

I am working on the translation and will post it later tonight or in the morning.

I could not read some of the last names either. I find some of the annual indexes are much more readable than others. Also some years (especially deaths) have significantly more entries. I copy some of these indexes to use as reference for matching surnames. As long as I can make out a few of the letters, I can usually match to a name.

Hi Gina,

This is what the document actual states.

Act of Birth

(of Felice)
Born: September 22, 1903

Number 73

In the year one thousand nine hundred three, of day twenty-three, September, at the hour ante-meridian eleven and minute forty, in the Town Hall,

Before me, Luigi Scoperra, Delegated Secretary of the Mayor by the duly approved act of twenty-four April one thousand nine hundred three and the Official of Vital Records of this Town of Alvignano

And appeared Felice Visca, of age thirty-nine, farmer, residing in Alvignano, and who has introduced that at the post-meridian hour of one and minute ----------, of day twenty-two, of the current month, in the house in Campagna, at number --------, and of Agata Santagata, his wife, farmer, who live together

And born a baby of sex male which he has presented and has given the name of

Antonino

To this action which witnesses have been present, Luigi Di???, of age fifty-six, ?????, and DiDario Paolo, of age fifty-three, tailor, both residing in this Town. We therefore have formed the present act, which has been introduced and signed solely by the informant, Paolo DiDario, the others are illiterate.

Thank you so very much for all of the help! I really appreciate it. I am a bit curious about the spelling of the last name seeing we always used a "o" not an "a" always find something interesting.

Thanks again!

Dear Gina,

Double check other documents with the same name as well as Indexes and see how they spell the name.

Sometimes the name changes over the years to distinguished one clan from another.

Sometimes the name changed when it came to the USA.

Sometimes the person writing the document just wanted to fancy with his writing and loops his letters or they're so sloppy that you can't make it out.

Plus remember, I was going by a copy from the internet and not the actual document so it could be an "o" and not an "a".

I hope this clears up things.
