Pasquale Pompeo record translation

Certificate issued by the Parish Church in Morrone
Pasquale Pompeo died in Morrone on Jan 13 1787, aged 56, son of deceased Giambattista (Pompeo) and Domenica Iorio

Ok..I'm confused..the marriage was for Pardantonio Pompeo in 1827. His father, Giuseppe died in 1817..I think Pasquale is the grandfather but if he died in 1787..why is there a record of his death in this marriage record?

The father of the groom was supposed to give his consensus and if the father was dead the consensus could be given by the grandfather.
