Help with my nickname

Postby kimok » 02 Apr 2016, 22:23

I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing or spelling this name correctly, but ever since I can remember, my grandparents called me tupatina (sounds like too-pa-tina). I think I was told it meant little one or something along those lines. I'm looking for the correct word/spelling and actual meaning if anyone has any idea. Thanks!

Hi, I don't know your gender, but if you are female, I can say abt the word, that it is a dialectal word, and I believe that could be:
-" tuppattina ( 2 p and 2 t)" .. this ( dialectal) word originates from a female hairstyle that in italian language is the "tuppo", the hair tied back, on the nape, completely tied back... so tuppattina means: little girl with hair tied back, calling so the little girl by the name of her hairstyle...
just a possible explanation,
best regards,
suanj
