Is the name of the person reporting the birth Maria?

Also Is this record telling me the mother was not married? Would "Maria" have been the mother or would it be an adoption? ... ed-public/ ... ed-public/

Maria Grazia Rossetti, age 32, a peasant, is the person declaring the infant's birth. In the margin, the town official listed the infant's name as Michele Rossetti of Maria Grazia. Even though the record doesn't specifically state that she was the mother, it appears that she was. The birth resulted from a natural union, although the word for "her" is omitted, with an unmarried man who was not a relative in any degree, which would prove an obstacle to him recognizing the infant. Adoptions were basically unheard of during that period of time. Also is the fact that the town official did not invent the infant's surname but rather gave the infant the same surname as the mother. So I think the correct conclusion is that she was the newborn's mother.
