Groom's last name?

Postby kencwalker » 15 Jul 2016, 23:56

I need a wee bit of help.
I can't figure out the groom's last name for record #2. It's written in 3 different places in the record (and once near the bottom of record #1 as a witness). I'm getting to know the Cavaglio families; it's not a name I've seen before. Comparing to other letters on the page, I don't think it starts with: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, L, M, P, R, T
Anyone, anyone?
Thanks -- Ken

Tessa, that's what I was thinking...an odd name. Haven't seen another Quarna in Cavaglio yet (and I've seen lots of names).
Thanks! --Ken

Quarna does not exist today in the region...

But there are several names that begin with Quar- :-D
You might want to find the Pubblicazione di Matrimonio to see if is spelled the same way.

mmongo / Tessa,
Thanks for the insights. Frankly I'm focused on Cantoias, and not that interested in Signore Quarna at the moment (unless the bride turns out to be an ancestor; still TBD). That said, I always find these unusual discoveries to be interesting "things to investigate sometime". I've been thru 40 years of Cantoia birth and marriage records in Cavaglio, and don't recall seeing this cogname as a mothers/maiden name on any records. Apparently the Cantoias and Quarnas didn't mix socially. :)
