Oct 2, 1879 at 1:30 P.M. in the town hall

Appearing was Antonina Geraci, age 50, a spinner who reported that at 9 P.M. on the 1st in the house at #2 vico la Manna, Caterina D’Amore, age 30, a spinner, the wife of Salvatore Mascari, age 40, a fisherman, gave birth to a male infant who was being given the name Michele (Mascari). Witnesses to the declaration of the birth, and presentation of the infant, were Andrea Mercurio, age 50, a porter, and Vincenzo Di Lisi, age 50, also a porter, both residents of the town. The declarant announced the birth, which she had assisted with, in place of the husband because he was absent. Only the town official signed the document, as the others did not know how to write.
