Marriage record dated Jan 31, 1828 at 7 P.M. in Catanzaro

Groom: Francesco Ruga, of adult age, 23, born in Catanzaro, peasant, son of dec Giuseppe (Ruga) and Petronilla Pavone, living in this town.
Bride Barbara Iannoccari, minor, age 17, born in Simeri but living in Catanzaro, daughter of deceased Felice (Iannoccari) and Antonia Gentile, living in this town.
Petronilla Pavone gave consent to her daughter for the present marriage.

Notification was posted on the door of the town hall on the 13th, a Sunday

Documents presented for the marriage:
1. birth act of the groom
2. death act of the father of the groom
3. death act of the grandfather of the groom.
4. birth act of the bride
5. death act of the father of the bride (the record reads of the groom, but this should be of the bride)
6. the act of absence of the grandfather of the bride which was formed by the court of Catanzaro on Jan 9th.
7. authentic act formed by the notary Matteo Celentani of Salerno, the 22nd of last November with which the mother of the bride gave her consent to her daughter for the present marriage
8. the certificate from the parish concerning the bride’s residence in the town.
9. notification made as above in this town and resulted in no opposition to the present marriage

Witnesses:
1. Don Felice Condo’ 61, writer
2. D. Raffaele Trapassi-39-clerk
3. D. Domenico Frojo, age 52, clerk
4. D. Pasquale Calvo, 32, clerk
The groom, the bride, and mother of the bride signed with the sign of the cross

Marriage in the Parish of S, Biagio on Jan 31, 1828
Church witnesses were Don Felice Condo’ and Domenico Nicotera.

These marriage records have so much detail in them. Unfortunately there are no birth or death dates included with the list of documents. Sometimes you do get that info as well, so always best to make sure you can decipher the handwriting in that section of the document.
