1862- 1873 nati

Postby Athena » 15 Aug 2016, 21:21

Does this have an index?
I'm looking for Damiana Gulino and Gioachino Prestianni, but I haven't found an index and I have no clue to where the childs name would be on these records.

Any help would be great!

This one is confusing. Don't know how to look up Giovanni Prestianni is on line 16. What would be the page he's on?

In this index, 16 is not the record number
The births are listed chronologically, and Giovanni is born on 14 January 1864.

This Giovanni Prestianni was the son of Antonio and of Concetta Di Garbo.

This is good because his parents are my 3rd great-grandparents.
so you would have to look over every record/page?

Thank you for your help

No, you go to the beginning of that year... and look through the January births.

Correct. Both the index and the records are in chronological order (1-Jan to 31-Dec)
You can look for family names in the index, get the record number, then look for record with the matching numero d' ordice to get the details.
Some records have an alphabetic index created at the end of the year. I didn't find one here. Maybe it's on the next film?

Ken :D
The issue in THIS index is that there are no record numbers listed. Poster will need to go to the beginning of the acts (January) and search for the birthdate (14) in January. A quick look at the surnames on each record in mid-January will help to find it.

Tessa, we must be looking at different indices.
The index I'm looking at (from 1862 link below) clearly has N. d' ordine label above the left column, and entries are numbered consecutively 1, 2, 3, 4, etc (12 per page).
I just checked the 1864 link and it has N. d' ordine in the left column also.

I attached the index I'm describing. Am I looking at the wrong index?

This is the index in question. :D

I apologize for the confusion..the left column is labeled as you say.
