Vona - Catalano Marriage

Postby sacesta » 20 Aug 2016, 18:55

I have here what I believe is the record of marriage for my 5th great grandparents, Antonino Vona and Joanna (Giovanna) Catalano.

I've gleaned most of the genealogical information from this record, so I'm just looking for confirmation and I also have a few minor questions.

01 Jun 1783
Banns on the 11th, 18th and 25th of May 1783 with no impediments.
Groom is Antonino Vona, the son of Nicolai (Nicolo) Vona and Hieronymus (not sure of Italian translation) Costa, both deceased.
Bride is Joanna (Giovanna) Catalano, the daughter of Joseph (Giuseppe) Catalano and Antonina Costa, both deceased. There is something written immediately following Joseph's name that I cannot discern.
I'm not sure about the witnesses.

Your help is always appreciated.

Steve

Nicola's wife -Girolama

The bride was a widow. Her former husband -deceased Luciano Craparotta (now the surname is spelled Caprarotta). They had been spouses of this town and parish when he was alive.

Thanks so much Erudita. I had seen the name Caprarotta when I first looked at the record and thought something was up with that, but failed to mention it in my post. Thanks for picking that up!

Although the spelling of it in the record is incorrect, Mucaria is a name associated with Calatafimi. Thank you.
