birth records help, pls.

these two foundlings were born 1 year apart
1. are these children born of the same mother and she gave each up? Or did the 'receiver' just give the foundlings the same surname?

2. does any of the handwritten information indicate if any items were left with either child?

3. what about folio #13 on male's birth act?

thanks for your help,
donna

I can't see if it gives these children's ages but the little girl was registered 27 June 1844 and the little boy on 16 January 1845 so if they were new borns they would be much too close in age to be born to the same mother. It's really hard to read/decipher. I'll connect my laptop to another monitor later and have a closer look. At the top of Record No 13 there is a note about who the little boy marries: Mariangela …..? on 20 February 1891 in Ariano. I'll have another look later, it might be clearer using a monitor.

Just to add: Also, I don't believe that the surnames the children have been given, match. They look similar but they are definitely spelt differently. Will catch the correct spelling later.

For the first record, I read the following:

esposta nella ruota dei Projetti di questo comune sita in detta Parochia senza veste(?)-not clothed- e senza segni apparenti sul corpo come dal rapporto della ...che si...nel volume delle (inutale?) al folio trecentodieci, copia del quale qui...

Clericuzio - thank you. I could see it started Cler..... Also, I notice I made a typo on the little girl's registration day 28th not 27th and also the year 1871 not 1891. It wasn't a clear read.

Great catch Erudita. I couldn't decipher the writing. To me though, it seems that both records are saying almost the same thing.

Angela and Donna,

As far as I can tell, the wording in the records is exactly the same. The ending part reads "stato dato il nome di...dal Tutore dei Projetti"

also after copia it should be the word dal instead of del as I wrote above

It definitely makes sense to me that the surnames are variations of each other and not exactly the same. When I found my paternal grandfather's record, that's exactly what the town official was doing. He started with with the first three letters of the surnames the same, and then every foundling recorded in that year had variations in the rest of the surname spelling.

Yes, that was my thinking also re both the wording in the two Acts and also what was possibly happening with the created surnames given to foundlings. Thank you, Erudita.
