Translation Help for Letter to Possible Relatives

Postby Biff83 » 26 Sep 2016, 03:05

Hello all,

I've been busy the past few weeks working as a substitute teacher and helping my daughter and her family move into a new home, so I haven't been on the forums very often.

I am continuing to help someone at the local library trace her husband's Italian/Swiss heritage and she has decided to send a letter to potential relatives to see if that might put a couple of cracks in the brick wall we've encountered. The following is her letter. I would greatly appreciate if someone could translate this into Italian.

"My name is Elizabeth Ceppi, I am married to Nicholas Ceppi. I am researching his ancestors who came from Genestrerio, Canton Ticino, Switzerland to Boston, Massachusetts, USA in 1860. His name was Dominico Ceppi (born about 1810), and his wife’s name was Catherina Bianchi (from the Foundling Hospital in Como, placed with the Belloni family in Genestrerio). According to records from the parish of St. Anthony Abate in Genestrerio, they married in the parish in 1843, and had 7 children who survived past 1860 and came to USA. Dominico’s father was also named Dominico (wife Marianna Soldini), and his father’s name was Joseph. It appears from those records that those with the surname Ceppi arrived in Genestrerio about 1812, as I saw no records for Ceppis in this parish before that date.
My hope in contacting you, and others in Canton Ticino and Lombardy with the last name of Ceppi, is to locate others who are descended from either the earlier Dominico (born about 1760) and Marianna, or his father Joseph, and may have some family information as to where the family resided prior to 1812, or any other information on the family.
I thank you in advance for your help. I enclose a self-addressed envelope, so that you may respond easily. If convenient, you may use my email address. I do not speak or write Italian, so please forgive any awkward mistakes in my letter. If you respond in Italian, I will have it translated.

Sincerely,"

Thanks for helping.

Buongiorno,

Cordialmente,
