I hope someone can give me some assistance in translating a letter into Italian. My ancestors came from an Italian speaking canton in Switzerland and I wish to contact some of the families there with the same surname.
This is what I would like to say:
My name is ------ and I am researching my Family History. My great great grandfather was -----, who was a farmer in Melano at the begining of the 19th century. He had three sons, James who was born in 1816, Peter born in 1824 and Anthony who was born in 1831. Angelo also had at least two daughters who married into the ----- and ------ families.
James and Peter both settled in England.
If you have any information that you think might be of interest to me then I would be delighted to hear from you either by mail or email.
I would also appreciate advice on the polite way to address these people who are afterall strangers to me.
Having problems with the Italian language? Do you need help to translate or understand an old family document? There is always someone who can help you!
