Palma is very rare but it is a female first name. I found this at

This record is from Molochio, Calabria. I've been researching mainly in Oppido Mamertina and just found some family in Molochio.

I know women with the name Palma and also Palmina. I just assumed it referred to the palms used on Palm Sunday.
