Location within Cosenza

The image below is cut from my grandfather's Registro di Leva. I knew that he was born in Malvito, in fact I have his birth certificate issued by Comune di Malvito in both Copia Autentica and in Estratto form.

The Registro di Leva adds new information of which I was not aware.

1) The mandamento for his place of birth and of residence appears to be "Sansosti". Question: Is this the same San Sosti which is located approximately 7 km north of Malvito?

2) What is the name of the Circondario (frazione)? I get the first letter (C?) and the ending (illari?) but what is the full name?

San Sosti 87010, Cosenza, Calabria has no "frazione". The listing below ending in illari is unknown to me. sorry =Peter=

Correction for San Sosti. There are two frazioni FRAVITTA and MACELLARA for San Sosti. Sorry. =Peter=

There is a Castrovillari (dould it have been written "C.villari"?) about 35 km north of Malvito.

Don't know if that will help...

The circondario was a regional area composed by several mandamanti and each mandamento is composed by a number of Comuni.

In this case, as already pointed out the circondario is Castrovillari.

Now that makes sense! - I was reading it backwards!

I was thinking in terms of Malvito-San Sosti-C'villari when it is actually C'villari-San Sosti-Malvito.

In the several years in which I have been casually researhing my Italian heritage, this is the first time I have encountered the terms Mandamento and Circondario. I am used to locations typically being stated in terms of comune -> frazione and thought this record was organized in the same way.

Thanks for clearing this up, livio!
