Bonifazio Cedrone

Postby anthonysammarco » 01 Feb 2010, 01:06

Would anyone be able to check ship
arrivals to Boston (circa 1918) for Bonifazio Cedrone

He was born in 1902 in San Donato val di Cimino,
left from the port of Le Havre, arrived in Boston.

I appreciate any help!

I tried ancestry . com and came up only with this naturalization index card. If he was 16 years-old when he came over, he may have been travelling with one or both parents. Do you know his father's given name? Mother's maiden name?

He travelled alone I was told. He missed the boat at Naples
and walked to Le Havre (according to the family.)
The Cedrones don't have much information, but he was
supposedly 16 years of age. His parents were
Giovanni and Maddelaina Mazzola Cedrone, but they
never left Italy.

Another record:

However I am still not seeing a manifest for him. We need someone who is especially good at finding lost manifests. VJ, where are you?

Great find, Raffaella; this is almost certianly him.

Proves two things:

a) Family oral history is more often wrong than right, especially when it comes to details (arrival date, port of entry, port of departure)

b) There are a lot of Italians walking around the US using the wrong name (Cedrone / Citrone).

Thank you all for such wonderful help!
This was something a friend's family could
not do so I thought I'd help, but you people are
incredible!

My family is Sammarco (San Marco) from Naples.
My grandfather was Luigi Sammarco (San Marco) born in 1895
and son of Antonio Sammarco (San Marco.) His brothers were
Carlo and Giovanni. He married Rose (Rosa) Giannelli from
Avellino (Montefalcione.)

The parish in San Donato did a census every 10-20 years between 1600's and 1860. Amazing!
There are photos of the church and town on my website.
