I have found ancestors in Forno Canavese, and a new group in Forno Rivara have come to me via an Italian researcher. These are both in the Torino area. I cannot locate Forno Rivara on a map, only "Rivara". Can someone clear up the difference between these two names. Also what exactly does Forno mean?
Forno di Rivara was once an hamlet of the Rivara's Comune, but it's a Comune on its own since 3 centuries ago. So you have to direct your inquiries not to Rivara's city hall, but to Forno Canavese (this is the official denomination since 1927). Here is the link to the official website: www.comune.fornocanavese.to.it
Thanks again Livo. This is cleared up for me. I am reading Parrish records from Forno Canavese, via the LDS church films. It appears that some my ancestors who according to other records, were born in Forno Rivara, but are not in the Forno Canavese films. Where else might these records be?
