Hi,

I wrote letters to San Biagio and Bivona on both my great grandfathers. I received a reply from Bivona that just simply names his parents. I sent them about a month ago. An additional question, if I can ask, how do I get an actual copy of the birth cert and not just a letter telling me who his parents are?

You must ask for a "Copia integrale dell'atto di nascita"

Hey thanks again Livio! Will I need to send a copy of my birth certificate proving that I was born a Bullara with the request? I obviously will not be able to show my information in person unfortunately. I wish I new how to speak Italian so I can just call them...lol.

You should send a copy of your personal ID and a self-addressed envelope. Always allow 4-6 weeks for the answer.

The problem you will run into is that Italy/Scicily does not allow citizenship through the female member of the family until 1948. It's a shame, but that is what they have decided.
