Surname Musatto listed Prione, Italy as home??

Post by dustyruffles »

I am currently researching my grandmother's family from Italy. I know she was from the north and pretty sure her family was near Turin and in the Piedmont region. One record of her father shows his home as Prione, Italy but I can't seem to find anything. Her father's name was Celeste Musatto, born 1854 and her mother's name was Constanza Scribantie, born 1865. They were married in Italy in 1888 and arrived in American in 1893. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

About two hours east of Piemonte can be found Frazione Pirone, Comune di Sarnico, Provincia di Bergamo, Regione di Lombardia.

What is a frazione? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frazione

The current Italian telephone directory has no entries whatsoever for Musatto. However, there are 12 Mussatto's in the Torino area and 79 Mussato's throughout northern Italy. See http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... btt=1&om=0.

Also, see http://www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/gen ... e=MUSSATTO

The name Scribantie does not exist today; more than likely the correct spelling is Scribanti without the final "e", but when you have a corruped spelling you have to consider all options.

Hi,
I think the place could be Briona which is in Piedmont in the province of Novara. Many relatives of mine, who were from a town near Briona, went to Osage City, KS then moved to Missouri and went to Centerville, Iowa. I could see that they used to move all to the same places. I suppose they were telling each other where they requesting miners.
