Birth or Baptismal records from Palermo, Sicily in 1841

I am wanting to request a birth certificate from Palermo. Is there a website or address to write to? My gg grandfather was Pietro Lipari (American spelling Peter Lepre) born Jan 21, 1841. His father was Joseph Pepe Lipari and mother was Mary Petri.

The scandalous family story is that at the age of 12 he assaulted a local Priest and the police was looking for him. With the aid of the Sicilian Mafia he was hidden on a boat and arrived in America alone.

I would like obtain his birth certificate, Baptismal certificate, newspaper articles, etc. I've hit a dead end and have been stuck not being able to go any further back on my tree. Any help at all would be Greatly appreciated! I'm not sure if there is a specific central place that holds records in or near Palermo around 1841.

Palermo is a province,comune,city there are seziones in the city which have separate sections of there civil records

Marty, thank you so much for your help. I went to my local Family Research Library last week but was only able to stay less than one hour. I plan to go back on Friday and hopefully be able to get more information. They did tell me at our local office that they had several films from Palermo already so I just need to go through them at some point. It's all still new to me so I'm a little slower at this but hope to pick up my pace as I go along. I think you were on to something with the names you had given me I just need to try to confirm that it is indeed his parents and birthplace.

Thanks so much Marty! I do believe that this is the correct family that I've been search for. If I were to order the film on line would the film give me the actual copy of the record or would it be just the index with the same info that you've provided? I just don't want to order the film and it only give an index with the same info that you've given me. Is there a way for me to know?
