Conca della Campania

Postby chrisdamato » 29 Jul 2012, 01:04

My great grandfather was supposedly from this town (it was listed on the ship manifest as the point of origin). I tried to look up the birth records on Ancestry.com, but they do not have many for Caserta as a whole. In order to get these records, do I write to the town or are they kept in the Capital of Caserta province?

Try www.familysearch.org for records on microfilm from 1809-1865
Registri dello stato civile di Conca della Campania (Caserta), 1809-1865
author: Conca della Campania (Caserta). Ufficio dello stato civile
After 1865 you will need to request records from the town itself

This is the towns website photogallery.

Is there a way to translate the website? I can't really understand most of it.

Nevermind, I figured out how to translate the webpage. However, I don't see anything on the site that would indicate who I need to send the record request to. Any suggestions?

These records only go through 1865. He was born in 1889. Family Search doesn't have any other records beyond the 1865 year. Does that mean I have to definitely contact the town directly?

I went to the Conca website and had it translated. Unfortunately, I don't see any contact information for civil records. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
