Castle Garden Destination Codes

Postby vj » 12 Jan 2009, 19:40

Castle Garden Destination Codes

From Dr Stephen P Morse
The castlegarden.org website does not list the final destination of passengers but instead gives a code corresponding to the destination.
Below is a table giving the meaning of various code numbers.
This list is far from complete.

Dear VJ Thank you, thank you thank you thank you thank thank you much and oh yes THANK YOU!

7328-USA, 2880-Canada,3455-Bermuda,5115, San Francisco and 7778 -NYC is all that I have managed to discern. I know can deal with www.castlegarden.org with impunity!!!!!!! I sent ellisisland foundation an e-mail and never received any answer. It never occurrred to me that Stephen P. Morse was alive.

How do I contact him should I come across a listing he does not have??=Peter=

Oh my Peter!
Although there are lots of duplicates on this list,
I thought of you as soon as I saw it on Steve Morse's One Step site.
http://www.stevemorse.org/index.html

You can also access this list on the Steve Morse one-step passenger search page for Castle Garden:
http://www.stevemorse.org/ellis/cg.html

emailing him is a breeze, everywhere he has his name is a link!

(you know what to do, take out the spaces  )

Big smile :D for you Peter!

Peter,

Steve is an amazing person and always returns his emails..(well at least he has always emailed me back). I did some transcriptions with Lee on the 1940's census a while back and both he and the people who head up some of his projects are awesome. Last fall I email the people at castle garden and I have yet to hear back from them..its too bad that some of these groups put this info on line and provide an email address, then ignore their messages.

BTW..I will be sending you a PM. I was able to complete that project hat we discussed a while back and need your feedback on it.

Everyone of us has a fault but in my case they are legion!!!!! Coupled with my cosmic moments as a result of creeping senility, I did not put 2 and 2 together since I was convinced anybody who has done anything worthwhile in this world of mediocrity is long dead...but I have to apologize to Steve Morse for thinking he was deceased, to you gals (all of you who keep me on my P's and Q's.) Sincerely =Peter=

That was alot of fun!! I really enjoyed it.....both Steve and Joel were great to work with. Hoping to free up some time and get involved with another project. The more "free genealogy" resources the better....
