Marriage Cert from another country...

Postby sigel7 » 19 Feb 2009, 23:15

Would the marriage of two Italians be recorded at the comune of origin of the bride or groom or would that info only be avail at the town/country in which they married? I am trying to figure out who to contact to get a copy. Thanks

If they married in another country in a Catholic Church, they would have had to provide a certificate of baptism which they would have got from the parish of their birth. The parish of baptism MAY have noted this marriage against the baptism record. I have seen this in parish records.

The Birde's town of origin is normally where marriages would take place in Italy. =Peter=
