Hello James & suanj :D !
Although they are only 6% complete - it's still really exciting to see these records online.
James, fingers crossed that they get to Carini soon.

Italian online genealogy has grown in leaps and bounds the last couple years after a decade of almost nothing. The coolest part is that so many people who have no LDS access and can't travel are now able to use primary source records to trace their heritage. That's what I tried to do for Carini, give everyone access, and a lot of other people are doing the same thing.

You've made a fantastic contribution to genealogy research James.....
and with Nuccia and the other team members providing even more online records, I only wish my town of origin fell into one of the towns transcribed!!!

I have been pouring through these records on line since June, 2009, especially for "Parrochia de_Rocca_Sant Maria la Reale" and they really are something special. Question. Does anyone know of a map of the Monreale Archdiocese (diocese?) and the various parish boundaries w/ the names of the various churches and towns/villages? It will help me greatly to decide how to tackle this. Also, I am slowly putting together an index cross-referencing the year, the entry number, the corresponding Catalogue sequence for file download, and the corresponding Catalogue file name that may be of some help to others. And lastly, if anyone knows of the location of the Costa family of Monreale in these records, please let me know. In specific I am trying to find the marriage information for Anna Salamone and Benedetto Costa, circa 1840, plus or minus a few years. Thanks all.

You will find a list of all the Comune which are part of the Monreale Diocese here:

Monreale Diocese

click on "PARROCCHIE"

The towns currently listed on The Family Search labs site cited above are what the LDS church has uploaded so far. When complete, it will include the entire Diocese. (88 Parishes) Currently they are at 6% of the entire collection uploaded to FamilySearch Labs.

We are fortunate with Sicily, that these church records were filmed very recently (2001-2007) as the towns currently included in the diocese were ALSO a part at the time of filming.

For Monreale proper (Comune of Monreale....www.nonsolocap.it) go to www.parrocchie.it for the entire listing of 26 parish churches. Just type in MONREALE in the right hand section for Citta. =Peter=

Maybe this will help, there 88 Parish churches in Monreale Diocese. This is a map of the towns included, many towns (My Carini included) contain several Catholic churches.
