Italian Military

Postby Jean Galata » 25 Jan 2012, 06:07

How can I find the military record of my grandfather? I know he returned to Italy to fulfill his military service prior to 1906.He returned to America May 13, 1906 after serving his country. His name was Vincenzo Santoro. He was born in Collepietro (Province of L'Aguila), Italy.

You can try to contact the
Archivio di Stato de L'Aquila
with some more accurate info (data, place of birth).
"Archivi di Stato" generally have the so-called "Ruolo Matricolare" with the evidence of the situation of a person with respect to his military service, and some can do researches for a small fee.
