Sicilian Family

Postby Leofalletta » 09 Feb 2008, 04:39

Hi, my name is Leo Falletta
Toronto, Ontario Canada
I've been trying to do some research on great grand father (francesco falletta). I know he was born in 1905. I also know what his father's name was (leonardo falletta) but this is all i know of him i dont know what his D.O.B. is. What I like to know is if there is an easier way on getting the Stato di Famiglia from the comune di Campofranco , example: Internet?? I spoke to them personally and they told me to write them a letter, my italian writing is quite bad, lol. so i was wondering if there is a webpage i can go to? any suggestions would be havefull, i am very new to researching in geneology.

my advice is of to see, before of Campofranco letter sending, the LDS microfilms -Campofranco civil records:
Registri dello stato civile, 1820-1910
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... umns=*,0,0

Nati 1900-1910 Pubblicazioni 1867-1899, 1901-1910 Matrimoni 1866-1910 FHL INTL Film
1963697

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... o+civile++

so you can know the exact birthdate of Francesco and more....
for the request of Stato di famiglia in Campofranco, well because it are old records, you must ask Certificato Storico di Famiglia( = Stato di Famiglia Storico), but by LDS microfilms you can find many civil records abt your family...
regards, suanj

Leo,

The records are not accessable on line. :( You have to order the microfilm from a Family History Center which is run by the LDS Church.
Here is the home page.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/default.asp

Find a center near you, and order the microfilm suanj told you about. The cost is about $6. per rolll and comes in 3 or 4 weeks. The staff at the centers is very helpful and you will be able to research more of your ancestors. :D

If you need any further info or help, let us know.

Dear Leo if you just want to obtain the Certificato di Stato di Famiglia Storico from the Uffico di Stato Civile in Campofranco you cna go to wwww.mangeruca,.com for an italian language form letter requesting documents and send it to them Comune di campofranco, Postale 93010, (CL) Sicily. The serivce is free but you migh wish to consider sending them $10.00 (US$=75cents$E) since it is an end of day duty for them and they are poorly paid clerks. You can also se nd postal money coupons if you wish or nothing as well. Wait time is 6-8 weeks so while your viewing the micorfilm your certificate will be processed in Italy. If you wish to view the filsm may I recommend a companion book Discovering Your Italian Ancerstors by Lynn nelso which will enable you to understand the microfilm listings which are written in Italian and bring along a magnifying glass fo rthos hard to read items. =Peter=

Hi peter for the Certificato Storico of family the cost ( in simply paper)is of 2, 58 euros for any name... this in many Commons; in some other the cost is of euros: 25,8, and in some other also around the 50 euros for 1 name... this because any Common can choice if to make as the government suggested or if to make by itself... however, normally, the cost is of 2,58 euros for 1 record... so if in a family it are 50 records the cost will be 2,58 x 50 = .......... and + postage...
you know the italian spell, so you can read that the old records have a cost:
http://www.comune.bolzano.it/servizi_co ... 254&page=2

the same is of abt the 80% of italian commons

the stato di famiglia "free"( no true free because we pay, a little amount but we pay) is abt the living citizens resident in Italy... kisses, suanj

suanj is correct.

This is one record that is definitely not free! I was asked for 5 euros per person found plus a 10 euro genealogy tax when I requested my last one....nine people on my list so 10 x 5 euros=50 euros plus 10 euros genealogy tax came to a total of 60 euros for one record! 8O

The other thing is is that the clerks are under no obligation to provide this record so requesting it doesn't guarantee you will get it. I have known several people who have never received theirs.

Good luck and let us know if you need any help.

I'm sorry folks...but have I missed something here? A 'breeze' in church? And you're using 'dotage' in what context Peter?
Then who is supposed to be sending postcards (or not) to who?

I'm confused!!! :?

Does the money go with the request letter when requesting the "Certificato di Stato di Famiglia Storico"?

That may be why I haven't received a response yet.

Any information would be helpful. In an earlier post I was told the records were "free". Obviously not!
