Re: Cuppare Family from Reggio di Calabria, Italy
Very cool, changing the name back! I don't know if any family is still in Calabria, so many from the generation that would have written back home have died.

Re: Cuppare Family from Reggio di Calabria, Italy
We had heard that Tony died - Michael and I send our sympathies to you and your family. My father in law, Rocco, has given me all the information that he knows about his parents. I know that Rose's parents were Rocco Bagnato and Paola Tellarida and they married about 1910 (unknown place of marriage)...

Re: Cuppare Family from Reggio di Calabria, Italy
Hi Janis, Giuseppe and Rose are my husband Michael's grandparents. Michael's parents are Rocky and Lucy Cooper. Rocco has been using his baptismal certificate as his proof of birth, since he has no birth record. I did know the name was changed in the '40's, but haven't found official paperwork for t...

Re: Lost in Italy
It was the manifest for Duca d'Aosta sailing from Naples: line 1, Paola Tellarida and her 3 daughters. Please let me know if you think it's a different town. Your list is the same one I found at the online LDS card catalog. I used the city suggested in answer to my query "City of Sant'Agata di ...

Re: Lost in Italy
Darn it - I'm lost again. I went to the LDS online catalog so I could order microfilm when I go to the FHC tomorrow. I typed in "Sant'Agata di Esaro, Italy". What I got was: Registri dello Stato Civile, 1809-1910; Sant'Agata di Esaro (Cosenza). I checked a map and Cosenza is a diferent pro...

Re: Dinoto and Greco
I have Carmelo Greco coming over to the US twice from Italy.
Is there a way to find out when he went back to Italy? (date, what ship, etc.)
The Ellis Island website only lets me view arriving passengers.

Re: Can anyone translate this document from Italian to Engli
Thank you for your effort.... Hmmm.....it doesn't look like "cassa toracica" at all. If "auri" pertains to ears, maybe it's "persistent weak ears"? Of course, diseases were described differently back then, so it could be saying something unusual for a common disease/ail...

Who is Pada Lollorida?
If someone could look at this at the Ellis Island web site, I would really appreciate it; Lollorida, Pada (line 1 for Ship, Duca d'Aosta, Port of Departure, Naples, Date of Arrival Nov 21, 1910. The names on the next 3 lines are, possibly, my husband's grandmother and great aunts (ages are wrong, ho...
