Re: Eligibility: Illegitimacy and Name issues
Thanks for your reply. I will keep that in mind as I move forward. I still have some digging to do and may be able to find something like that yet.

Eligibility: Illegitimacy and Name issues
Good afternoon, I recently found out that I may be eligible for Italian citizenship, but my case has a few twists that I would like to get some further information on before I start pushing heavily on this process. My situation is this: My g-grandfather, Corradino Cola, was born in 1906 in Morro d'O...

Messages from Stato di Archivi
I wrote to the Stato di Archivi in Treviso in an effort to find the conscription records of two of my ancestors. I recieved a response, in the form of two documents, though unfortunately not the records I was looking for. I was hoping someone could translate these - I know they're long, so I really ...

Re: Surnames: Massa, Castagnera, Grosso
I wanted to put a new post here to give some new information I found (with help from a very nice person in Italy). John Massa's name is in fact Giovanni Mazzer; he immigrated 17 Apr 1913. His parents were Giovanni Mazzer and Augusta Scottà. On the off chance that anyone knows about the Mazzer or ...

Re: Surnames: Massa, Castagnera, Grosso
Yes, I was aware of his two children from that time (one of them is my grandfather!). His older son's birth certificate does list Scomigo (a 'frazione' of Conegliano) as his birthplace, but when I sent to Conegliano for a birth certificate, they said they had none for him. I did send it back with a ...

Re: Surnames: Massa, Castagnera, Grosso
I just got a response from Vittorio, and got some information. There are two things I'm wondering: (a) the 'official' records of the town only go back to 1871; Antonio was born a few years before, and the person at the ufficio stato civile said I should contact the two parrochie of the town [serrava...

Re: Wecper, Italy?
I am aware that he was born in Vittorio; Wecper is given as his last permanent residence before returning to the US. It's really just curiousity on my part as to why he was in Germany; I thought if I could at least find the city's location that would be a start.
