Re: Bertellotti family from Stazzema
Hi Mike, I just got back from visiting Jean! (Returned Oct 31, 2015) She and I are first cousins, daughters of Al and Lou. We had a great time catching up after almost 30 years. I'd love to talk to you about our genealogy at greater length--please private message me. Or, if it's easier, your Mom has...

Need translation help--US birth cert to Italian
Hi all! I need help from someone with experience of delayed birth certificates in Italy --if possible! My US born father has what we call a "Delayed Record of Birth". This is a birth certificate which was not filed at or near the time of birth, but many years later. I need to translate thi...

USCIS is the official source of no record of naturalization. You have to ask them to search. Here's a link to the form:

You can also write a letter. Good luck, Peggy M

Re: Attilio Mancusi of Italy & Massachusetts, U.S.
You mention a "naturalization form"--not sure which document you are referring to. Have you tried NARA? I received a certificate of arrival for my GF, which states his port of arrival, ship, date etc. Also his petition has the same information.
Good luck, Peggy M

Ask the Italian Language Dept at your college--or call the Italian Depts at the college of your friends who've had good results! Good luck, Peggy M

IMHO I'd be careful what I say in letters--even to people who are (or may be) relatives-- especially concerning renouncing property rights. Re: Would good knowledge of Spanish get me by well enough?
Hi Moxie, I'm sure you can "get by" with English. But Spanish & Italian though similar, are different enough that they are not interchangeable. In fact, I think that knowing Spanish is a little confusing when learning Italian--but maybe that's just the kids in my class! Good luck, Pegg...

Re: Great-Grandmother's maiden name - HELP!
Church of Latter day Saints looked promising, but I couldn't find a birth certificate on John from them. I have tried libraries, the ones close to me don't have a paid membership to ancestry. The FHC in my area does have ancestry.com on their computers and so do the public libraries. Call FHC in yo...

Re: Great-Grandmother's maiden name - HELP!
I haven't the money at this time to purchase such a document. Then the best I can suggest is find a public library with paid subscription to ancestry.com, footnote.com etc and ask the librarian for help. Another good option is Church of the Latter Day Saints--one of their Family History Centers wil...

Re: Great-Grandmother's maiden name - HELP!
John STAFFIERI Social Security Number: 159-03-8707 Since John had an SSN, request a copy of his SS-5 (the application for SSN). It will give his mother's maiden name. Ask for the photocopy of the original application, not the numident. You can apply online. I got my GF's SS-5 in about a week. And t...

Gildone--
I only know what I read and your experience is the first I've ever heard of any Consulate's accepting only the declaration of intent. Good to know, though. All the best, Peg

Do you NARA or USCIS? If USCIS, please post the phone #. Many thanks, PegPastore wrote:I also spoke with the Office of USCIS History & Library Archivist, who has no records, either.
