Re: ancestry volunteers get access to images they index
I see what you're saying, thanks for explaining. Since the transcribing takes an eternity I was wondering if there was some way the photographs of the records could be put in a database that could be searched by year and town. One could flip through them on the internet like a photo album slideshow....

Re: ancestry volunteers get access to images they index
I think I would have a problem doing volunteer work for Ancestry given that they are a profit making business and their records are only accessible to those who pay a very large fee. LDS is more acceptable since their records and facilities are available to everyone and their microfilm fee is very a...

Re: ancestry volunteers get access to images they index
I had no idea that Ancestry used volunteers to transcribe these records. Very informative post.

Re: Help finding microfilm for Corleto please
I thought perhaps their docs could be mixed in with another town. I've been checking the film notes on the nearest towns and haven't found anything yet. Thanks for the email address Peter. I need birth, marriage and death recs for a lot of people. I wanted to put together a tree for my 94 year old a...

Help finding microfilm for Corleto please
I need to research some family from Corleto Monforte, Salerno, Campania and I'm not finding any microfilm in the LDS catalog for this town. Any suggestions?

Re: Translation help with page from processetti please
Carmine's children were born in Tripi, this is the only other town in Sicilia I have seen on documents connected to this family.

Translation help with page from processetti please
I would much appreciate some assistance with translating this death record for Carmine Aricò. Specifically the 3rd paragraph, I don't quite understand all of it. This document was in the processetti for the marriage of Carmine's grandson. Thank you. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj65/farefinta...

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
The consolate isn't helpful. I've emailed and called, they refer you to the website, the answer is not on the website. I'm just going to get the records from the NARA and take it from there.

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
I've looked on many websites and it seems to be standard that they want a census from the Dept of Commerce in cases where there was no naturalization. I'm going through the Los Angeles Consulate.

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
I've already received no records found letters from USCIS & NARA and sent for certification of no record found. I've searched the Southern district of NY courts and there are no records there either but I need certification of that. The consulate wants 3 certifications of no records. It's much e...

Re: Census record from Dept. of Commerce help please
I already have copies of all my census records, a printed copy from Ancestry or NARA is not acceptable for dual cit. The consulate wants the census record from the Dept. of Commerce. I agree, the census records are full of errors, don't know why this is a requirement but it is.
