Re: Help with Allegatti

My eyes fail me again  I'm guessing that the document was copied from the original or earlier church record in 1846 to fulfill part of the requirements for a marriage occurring around that time. Is the copy exact or more like an extract (estratto) of the original?

Re: Help with Allegatti

Is Simone Martorana's age listed in this document? This may be Vincenza Martorana's father.

Re: Help with Allegatti

Ah, it was handwritten at the top of the document beside the year. At first I thought this was writing bleeding through from another page. Thanks, Livio.

Re: Help with Allegatti

This death document does not list the day the child died or am I just misreading it?

Re: Help with Allegatti

I haven't come across the name Maruzza before. Maybe it was a family name. Angela Princiotto -- I have another document with her name where the spelling is clearer. I have two documents that are very similar. Both are in Latin and I think are death documents. This is the older document. http://www.p...

Re: Help with Allegatti

Thanks for the quick response. I didn't think the name was Dragotto. The given name of the Dragotto on this death certificate is unclear.

Re: Help with Allegatti

Thanks, Luca. I hoping I'll improve my Latin so that I can understand more of this on my own but it is always helpful to have a second, and much better, opinion :) I can tell if one of the parents is a Dragotto in this birth document.

Re: Help with Allegatti

Thanks everyone, I was thinking Cosimo Garuti? I have another birth document in Latin. I'm curious to whom the reference "sister" applies? And of course the other information as well.

Re: Help with Allegatti

Thanks Livio. I wonder if the person writing the name transposed the letters and the name should be Girolamo. We'll never know. In the following promessa the husband's name is unclear and it also appears that the bride stipulates that she be called Rosa although two other names are listed. http://im...

Re: Help with Allegatti

That's rather an unusual name, isn't it?

Re: Help with Allegatti

Thanks, Livio, that name was eluding me.

I have another challenging name on this child's birth certificate.

Re: Help with Allegatti

At first I thought the child's name in this death certificate was Gaetana,; it's not but I can't figure out what the correct name is.

Re: Help with Allegatti

This death certificate is for a child. I after the child's name is written one year one month, I think. Is this an estimate of the child's age at death?

Re: Help with Allegatti

I believe 35 is the correct age. I have a death certificate for her husband who died in 1831. Orazio is how I interpreted her father's name, the mother Giuseppa Rosicato (?) It is purely a guess that Orazio might be another son of the elder Cristofalo. I would also presume that Orazio is still living.

Re: Help with Allegatti

Luca, I really appreciate the clarifications you provide in addition to your transcriptions and translations. I think the following death certificate may point to another of old Cristofalo's children. http://img52.imageshack.us/i/deathcertificateannamar.jpg/ And I have another mystery that I'll post...
