Re: Anyone willing to translate a letter from English to Ita

I have very little info on my Italian heritage, and would love to find out more. I have noted the name and...

Need to know who to write to in Palermo (I presume) to ask about their information, how much to send to cover costs. As I do not speak a word of Italian, can someone help...

Re: Ferla from Sortino, Sicily

Spent a day at the latter day saints church researching. Tried every Virginia around her year of birth in the 1920 USA census, none matched. Have tried loads of people, and had lots of variations of the uncles surname, but cant find him in the census either. Am a member of Scotland's People. First m...

Re: Ferla from Sortino, Sicily

You have all been so kind, really appreciate your help and suggestions. daveferro - Virginia does not show up in any of the census in USA. She disappears after her arrival at Ellis Island in 1914. Checked out the ships log, she was definitely on board that ship, and did arrive in USA. Presume she mu...

Ferla from Sortino, Sicily

Found 2 more possible family members on Ellis Island site. Sebastiana Ferla aged 3 and Vincenzo Ferla aged 3 months left Sortino in Sicily, with Lucia Albicocco. They sailed from Napoli on the Campania on 5th June 1905. My Grandparents, Sebastiano Ferla and Maria LoMonaco were from that region, thei...

Re: Ferla, from Sortino, Siracusa, Sicily c 1850

Tried all the different variations of Vincenzo's surname with no luck. No trace of her after she arrived at Ellis Island in 1914. No trace on the 1920 census for Virginia Ferla. Tried looking at all the Virginia's in the 1920 census, no-one seemed to match. Tried her uncle on the census, different s...

Thank you for trying!
Its like a brick wall, so close then WHAM, dead end!
Really appreciate the help though. New to this game, and need all the help I can get. Feel like a real failure though when you don't know where to turn next!
Thank you,
Liz
