Re: Trying to find Emmanuele/Papadopoli in city of Palermo

Vincent, we are indeed related and I have sent you a private message! How great to find you! As far as I know my great grandmother always used Papadopoli and the only misspelling was on the manifest for ellis and that actually may have been the correct spelling. Paparopoli seems to be used in Italy ...

Re: Jewelery Store in Palermo mid to late 1800's?

Thank you for those pictures! I appreciate you taking the time to look for this for me. It looks as though a lot of businesses were in that street and as you say maybe they just called it goldsmith because of it being jewelers. Thanks again!

Re: Jewelery Store in Palermo mid to late 1800's?

Thanks for the reply. Does your city directory list businesses in Palermo at the time? Could you check on Papadopoli or Paparopoli Jewlery?

Re: Jewelery Store in Palermo mid to late 1800's?

Just thought of this, is there anything like a City Directory of businesses or something for late 1800's early 1900's for the City of Palermo? I don't know if that is something they had or not. Maybe someone else would know?

Re: Jewelery Store in Palermo mid to late 1800's?

when I read the excerpt from the book about Palermo it showed Paparopoli via degli orefici. Is that the street address? Trying to find a map that will show me where it was and maybe a picture of the building.

Re: Jewelery Store in Palermo mid to late 1800's?

I have family tree on ancestry with a lot of that information on it but thank you so much for looking for me. The reference to the google book was great! Is the information on that the address of where they were located in Palermo? I don't know how long they have the jewelers after my ggrandmother l...

Jewelery Store in Palermo mid to late 1800's?

I am trying to find a jewelry store that my great great grandfather owned in Palermo during the mid to late 1800's. His name was Guiseppe Papadopoli or could be Paparopoli. Some places show either one of these names. My aunt who is now 93 says her mother, my great grandmother used to tell her that h...

Re: Can anyone read this location on 1900 Census?

I think Altavilla is for Gennaro Rubino but the one for Angela Grieco is the listing above that and is a little bit harder to read. She was married to a Vincent Rubino but is listed under Grieco on this listing.

Can anyone read this location on 1900 Census?

My husbands Rubino family generally came from San Fele, Potenza and I have discovered the names of his ggrandfather Michael Rubino's parents on his tombstone. It showed a Vincenzo S. Rubino 1835-1915 and Anglea Maria Grieco 1842-1913. I thought they died in Italy and just had a memorial on the stone...

Re: Trying to find Emmanuele/Papadopoli in city of Palermo

Thanks for the information on you Emanuele family. I am sure our family is from Palermo and actually received a picture from a man who lives in Palermo now and studies the architecture of Palermo. He said it is probably the only known photo of the Port and Villabianca Palace. The building is in the ...

Re: Searching for Deluca family from Termini, Italy

That is great information! I am also trying to track down Francesco(Frank) Deluca's notice of death or obituary. He moved to Troy after immigrating in 1900 with Maria his sister and married Jennie Papapdopli in NYC in 1904. They then moved to Troy, NY and he died in August of 1908. I can't find the ...

Re: Searching for Deluca family from Termini, Italy

Where did you find them on the 1920 census in Troy, NY? I looked and couldn't find any Candioto or Coudioto in New York.
