Here's a question on behalf of a relation of mine: "My brother-in-law went to Italy about 20 years ago just to do research into the family. There is still one family in the direct line who lives in the village of the original immigrant. My father-in-law used to say, "I'm Tony Spiluz, I'm T...

Hi Emmy, I'm a convert to Google Chrome as well. It opens really fast and has my top 8 sites as lovely big icons on the home page, plus all my bookmarks from Internet Explorer. Good luck!

Fantastic news Vee, I'm so happy for you, and well done for persevering.
It must feel wonderful having some roots in the place - and I hope you tried the gnocchi??
All the best, Caroline.

Re: finding someone entering australia
I wonder if there is any way of finding out any details of his deportation through Australian Immigration. I have come across a very interesting book, but the preview on Google only covers the first 40 odd pages. The author is an Australian university lecturer, easily contactable and may be able to ...

Re: stoathes hall wakefield
So there is a possibility he may have ended up in the Storthes Hall Psychiatric hospital?
Pretty sure you should be able to find hospital records, which may be old enough by now to be accessible. I'll have a bit of a think, I'm pretty sure I have a link somewhere to a useful website.

Do you have access to the 1911 census, as he is listed on FindMyPast, aged 12, but I can't see any more without paying them.

Thanks, this reminded me of an article, link to the complete page below. Whoever invented the word tatterdemalions!? "There always was an Italian colony in the neighbourhood indicated, from a time so remote as to be beyond the memory even of the oldest inhabitant. Saffron Hill, with the adjacen...

Re: One World tree on ancestry?
Maybe try searching ancestry itself, but in the specific category of member trees?
It is part of ancestry, but doesn't seem to have the 'contact' area. I tried to get in touch with someone through it with no joy either, messed around for ages and got nowhere.
