Re: Name Changing

I was curious about whether if as a US citizen you changed your name from Smith to Johnson, for personal reasons, and somehow you were Italian. And you decided to get your Italian citizenship would this hurt you.

Re: Joseph Fede

I found four Antonio Fede's on the Ellis island search but I couldn't find a Joseph or a Giuseppe Fede to be his son. I am beginning to get really confused =). thanks For your help. Ancestory.com seems to have info about Antonio Fede though

Re: Joseph Fede

Well I talked to my grandfather and he said that his Grandfathers name was Antonio not Nunzio. He was unsure about most of the other things we discussed and he said that he would think about it and that I would be able to call him back about it.

Name Changing

If you changed your name in the US and then applied for citizenship from Italy (assuming that you qualify) what name will go on the citizenship and passport?

If this is a confirmed relationship, and if Nunzio became a naturalized citizen after the birth of my Great grandfather, am I eligible for citizenship?

Re: Joseph Fede

NOTE: "Italian citizen at the time of birth" is extremely important in determining whether or not you qualify. Parents who became naturalized citizens of their new country BEFORE the birth of their children lost their Italian citizenship and COULD NOT pass citizenship on to them, while par...
