Court Order in Connecticut?

Has anyone gotten a Court Order in Connecticut? I am not finding my grandfather's birth record, have had a genealogist help. I don't think it exists. So I need a judgment to his birthday and paternity. Please let me know if you've done this in CT. Thanks.

Re: Frank Fiorino b. 1899

OMG! Thank you so much, Tessa! Did I just make the mistake of not searching for "Francesco"? This is fabulous stuff -- I didn't even know they had the Declaration of Intent at Ancestry.com!

Frank Fiorino b. 1899

I'm searching for information on Frank Fiorino, who was born in Cosenza, Italy in 1899. I have found him and his wife Josephine (who was also his first cousin) in Brooklyn in the 1930 and 1940 Census records, along with their son John J. Fiorino, who was born in 1936 and recently died. I would like ...

Re: GF's NYC birth certificate - Appeals Court

Hi, I'm sorry if my post was confusing, but there have been a lot of steps in this process. See my previous posts for more details. Here's what happened: We applied for Citizenship with the NYC Consulate and waited nearly a year for an appointment in early 2012. They were very strict, accepted no pa...

GF's NYC birth certificate - Appeals Court

Over a year ago I filed a court proceeding in Manhattan for my GF's birth certificate. The judge signed the Order and the Italian Consulate accepted it as proof and granted me citizenship. However the City would not provide me with the birth record and subsequently appealed the judge's decision. Unf...

NYC's Appeal on GF Delayed Birth Registration

I filed my papers this week in response to New York City's appeal of the Supreme Court Judge's Order for Vital Records to create a birth record for my GF (deceased). After researching the matter, I do not believe they have much of an argument, as they can only cite their own Rules, while the NYC Cha...

Re: NYC Delayed Birth Registrataion

It seemed to me that they gave us an intentionally hard time on our first appointment all the way around, did not take any of our papers. Then on the second visit, everything was different even before we presented the judge's Order. The guy that had been so negative before had what seemed to be a pe...

Re: NYC Delayed Birth Registrataion

We got the Order from the judge to create the birth record. Vital Records would not fulfill it. Then the City appealed the case. They say it's against their rules (which it seems to be). But in the meantime the Consulate gave us citizenship based upon the judge's Order. They originally said that the...

Re: NYC Delayed Birth Registrataion

Lisa,

The lawyer who did the original court application for us is Adam Kalish, http://www.kalishlawnyc.com/ He did very well in court, but I think it may depend on who the judge is. Ours appeared to have already made up her mind before we got there.

It was expensive, though!

Re: NYC Delayed Birth Registrataion

The city is appealing my case. I should hear from them next week and then I believe I have 30 days to respond. I would like to address this issue but hiring an appeals attorney is way beyond my budget. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. In the mean time, I would suggest that anyone filing ...

Re: NYC Delayed Birth Registrataion

I have a case pending with NYC right now. The judge signed an Order for my GF's birth certificate last year. In March we had our appointment and based on the Order were granted citizenship. However the City refuses to give me an actual birth record for my GF and said they are appealing the case sinc...

NYC Delayed Birth

We had our second New York City appointment last month (GGF-GF-F-me). All of our papers were accepted. At our first appointment over a year ago, the Consulate requested a Court Order proving my GF’s birth and also a birth certificate from Vital Records. We got the Court Order however NYC would NOT i...

Re: Italians and slavery in the US

This is an interesting discussion. As an aside, my mother's white, Anglo Saxon step-family considered my father, a dark-skinned southern Italian, "black."

Family escort?

My father always said that because he was the oldest grandson he was expected to accompany his GM if no one else was going someplace with her. So he would take her to the beach, to church, etc. Is this a tradition or was it just specific to his family? They were from Basilicata. I appreciate anyone ...
