Re: translation and apostille help
Do the translations yourself, google translate, believe it or not, seems to do a decent job, none of my translations were questioned. Or pay to have one type of each document translated then use that as a template for similar other docs. Some people/places do charge a fortune for translations, but t...

Re: Birth cirtificate help, Please.
I think thats the same, or awfully similar, template that I used. I faxed mine in. Had the certificate in 2 weeks, faster than most states got them to me!

Italian Passports
Hello everyone, I'm waiting for my (and my families) Italian birth certs. from Staiti RC because I was told by the Detroit Consulate that they were needed for passports. I have a friend using the New York Consulate who is able to apply online for his passport, without his birth-cert. It seems all th...

Divorce Certs Needed?
My father and I have our Italian Citizenship, my brother is now applying for his. He was married two or three years, divorced...no children. He is now remarried with one child. Does he need his first wife's certs. and appostilles? Most sites say you need "applicable" divorce certs. Would h...

Re: Appointment in 1 week but missing one document, what to
I would go. If you already know the requested document works in your favor, which I assume you do, I'd give 'em everything you have, explain the situation and get a file started with the consulate. I was missing some stuff, went anyway and I was given a file number to reference when I sent the finis...

Re: Success in San Fran! Possible to speed up remaining proc
That's great, congrats. I was told to wait a couple months until my comune could file all the paperwork, then apply for our Italian birth certs. Then we could set an appointment and have the passports done. However, I think you should/could register AIRE now. As for speeding things up???

Success in Detroit!!
Thanks for the advice and camaraderie during this whole process from everyone. I'll try to keep my story short...but I'm pretty excited!! I started seriously collecting the stuff you need, orig. birth, death marriage, divorce certs. apostilles around the beginning of the year. I was lucky, had GGF a...

Register all family members?
Quick question, one I should have asked the Consulate. Do you have to register you wife and children when applying jure sanguinis? I was under the impression you did, but I've seen older post here that make me uncertain. Anyone know, please respond.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Success in Houston
Hey Congrats, I actually DO have a question about Houston. I had a meeting in Detroit and discovered that because I was born in Texas, I need to have the Houston Consulate approve a translation for my birth certificate. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I thought I saw a post here recently about s...

Which consulate are you using? I'm using Detroit and don't know if they'll take non-direct photo copies. Thanx

Name Issue
My GGF came here from Staiti in 1904, named Sebastiano Lemma. His birth record from Italy says Sebastiano. He signed into Ellis Island as Sebastiano Lemma. He began using Giuseppe and Joseph, interchangeably, in America. His naturalization papers from 1940 state his name as Giuseppe Sebastiano Lemma...
