I spent five hours today pouring through records and randomly stumbled upon Angela's death certificate, which has her last name spelled MUCH clearer. It is definitely Zambonini.

Wonder if anyone can verify for me what the surname is. The best I can do is Angela Lambonini. Looks like an L at the beginning to me, but I don't know what that circle thing is.

Also, what used to happen in a situation with no father presented? Not sure exactly what your question is. Do you mean if the father of the child is unknown? On many of the Allegati records of my ancestors, in the Birth Extracts, I'm finding that newborns are given a string of names, usually separated by a short dash, like so: Alberto - Giuseppe - Eugenio or Maria - Oliva - Catterina The middle name in each string appears to be their official first name....
