Researching illegitimate children
I was told that my grandfather was an orphan and was adopted by Vincenzo Colonese. However, in researching my grandfather I discovered that Vincenzo Colonese left Italy to come to the United States when my grandfather was only 3 years old and that he was single at the time. My grandfather left Italy...

Thank you.
Any idea of how I could get this list, short of going to Italy?

Census between 1890 and 1913
Would there have been a census taken in Atrani between the years of 1890 and 1913?
And would a list of all male children born in certain months of a certain year have been kept in that town?

Re: Atrani, Italy in 1913
One suggestion was:"it looks like lerosiere which does not mean anything so I think she meant caroziere, which mean cart repairman but I can’t say for sure".
That makes much more sense to me.
Thanks for your response.

Re: 1912 Census of Atrani, Italy
I probably should have asked if a census was ever done in Atrani prior to 1850? And if one was taken where would it have been recorded?

Re: Atrani, Italy in 1913
MARRIAGEApeRispoli1913.jpg I hope this works. This is what I got from the clerk in Atrani. I was told that the translation for my grandfather's occupation was Car Salesman. I am questioning that since it was 1913. First of all, did I attach this properly and can it be opened? And then, is the trans...

Re: Atrani, Italy in 1913
The best I can make out "leroniu" or leroneu". The letter "n" in the middle looks strange so I can't really make it out.

Atrani, Italy in 1913
My grandfather's occupation in 1913 in Atrani, Italy was listed as "car salesman".
Is that even possible?
I don't know much about the automobile industry but were there enough cars in the tiny village of Atrani (much less usable roads) to make a car salesman a viable occupation?
