Re: Projetto ancestor
And to add to this mess....here is the birth record of the baby: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1971-33370-1046-34?cc=2043548&wc=M9S6-YRK:n1731443632 This lists her father as Gioacchino Lombardo. Apparently this guy (my gggrandfather) went back and forth between names. I am so confused!

Re: Projetto ancestor
Thanks, Marty. I got her age and information (father was different on her marriage record than death record), but I wasn't sure about the baby. I thought maybe she died as a result of childbirth, but 9 months is a long time afterwards. They must have gotten sick.

Re: Projetto ancestor
I have yet to find any further documents on Achille Projetto, but I did find the death record of Margherita Sacco: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-33383-6882-56?cc=2043548&wc=M9S6-YR4:n682911073 And their daughter a few days earlier: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-33...

Re: Projetto ancestor
Thank you, Suanj and John, for helping. I'm still puzzled how Achille Projetto could eventually become Achille Lombardo. This is my great-grandfather's (Ignazio Lombardo) birth record: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-33394-1280-9?cc=2043548&wc=M9S6-YRF:976724588 And Salvatore Lomba...

Projetto ancestor
About a week ago I posted about my great-grandfather who had the name Projetto Ignazio Lombardo when he came to the US. His birth record listed his parents as Achille Proetto Lombardo and Margherita Sacco. Today I found a marriage record for Achille Projetto and Margherita Sacco: https://familysearc...

Re: Continuation of Names Historically
It is a tradition that many families have carried on. My family did this...they had absolutely no imagination when it came to names! In fact, one set of my great-grandparents lost a child, and then gave that child's name to the next child, who was born just a day after the first one died. So family ...

Translation help
Can someone help with a translation, please? I think I've got the basics, just want to make sure. This is the marriage record of Vincenzo Piazza and Calogera Ciulla, 31 Aug 1871, from Family Search pg. 1040, record # 81: first page: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1971-33364-7964-96?cc=2043...

Re: Missing birth records?
OK. Thanks for deciphering, Marty. I am getting better at this, but between the Italian and the handwriting, it's still challenging! I really appreciate the help you and the others have been giving me.

Re: Missing birth records?
Thanks, Marty...definitely a great list. My Italian has improved drastically over the past week or so! I still cannot find what those words mean. They may not be occupations, and when I put them into the Italian translation program, nothing comes up. After "Antonia D'Asaro, his wife, industrial...

Re: Missing birth records?
Thank you for finding this. I guess the records are not in order. I was on page 2522 of the FamilySearch birth records, which ended August 4th, but you found this one for December on pg. 2318!
Can you tell me what the word is after "industriosa", after the mother's name?

Missing birth records?
I've searched for my great grandmother, Pietrina Marinello, born either Dec. 24 or 25, 1888 in Sciacca. However, on Family Search the records for 1888 end August 4 of that year. Parents were Santo Marinello and Antonia D'Asaro. I've found the ship manifest where Pietrina arrived with her mother, but...

Re: Projetto = foundling?
Thanks, Tessa. I'll check out the Family History Center. I think there's one about an hour away. We don't have a library or senior center in our town. Wish we did.

Thank you. I just wasn't sure about this record, but it can't be my ancestor.erudita74 wrote:The mother on the birth record you found is Angela Silvestre, the daughter of deceased Michele Silvestre
