Any others of the same men in different clothes, different men in the same clothes?
Searching for my great x3 grandfather Raffaele CIACCIA, also known as Raphael/Ralph CHURCH. He was born in Napoli around 1792 and arrived in London before 1812 with his brother Saverio CIACCIA, where they married sisters Ann and Jane FURNEAUX. He switched between CHURCH and CIACCIA all his life, which has made it difficult enough to pin him down. I want to find his origin in Italy.

Interview them asap, I wish I asked more questions before my father passed......I'm the youngest female of the 1st cousins in our family & I grew up living next door to my Grandparents and my father would translate the stories that my Grandmother was telling about her family......There is a story that my Grandmother is the illegitimate daughter of a man of well means and her mother was a servant at his home. My Grandfather actually worked for her biological father on his property....and when my Grandmother came here to America to marry him, she was disowned for marrying below her class even though she was illegitimate......I still have to order the microfilms at the Family Search Center to see if I can confirm if the woman that raised her is her biological mother or not.....She has 2 different last names .......More fantastic history to confirm........Sal2

My husband bought a mini digital recorder so I can record the conversation and then download them and burn them on CD.

It is small enough to carry in my purse so I don't have to worry about having it with me.

We are getting snow here again in Michigan so when the weather breaks a bit I will start the interviews. I am sending a letter to all family members to remind them get out the pictures and such because I will be coming around for them.

Then I need to start cooking and baking cause as you know ...you never show up at the door without something homemade!!!

I could give you "Most Likely" but I always hesitate to do that since it lacks scholarship, substantiation and certitude. However there are times when it is reasonable to project based on family hearsay. I did not feel this was right unless we exhausted all available sources of information..

If Suanj doesn't know nor Valerie nor any of the other luminaries herein then we are free to conjecture as well as they are. =Peter=

Well will wait & see, but I will continue my search to see if what I was told about the clothing being provided by the photography studio can be proven...I hold out the hope that it was their own clothing........Thanks....Sal4

When I first got the photo's a few yrs back, I saw that on the back of the picture was the studio's name so I Google'd the photography studio's name and town that it was located in and I couldn't find anything on it..... and I even searched the Caserta/Piedimonte D'Alfie area today for this business and nothing....Sal4

Wine will loosen some tongues....lol

You know you could take that picture to a local historical society and see if they can date the clothes or maybe they have pictures like it. And they can help with studio.

Antique dealers too....maybe they have something.

I am in the same boat. Got a picture of my Grandfather's family don't know where it was taken, don't know when but it has everyone it in!

Have you chekced the telephone directory yellow pages for any photographers there and ask them if they know anything about the photographer or the clothing since this seems to be of such paramount importance. It certainly is worth the effort. =Peter=

Hi Peter....No I haven't tried the yellow pages as of yet, great suggestion...Thank You....
Suanj responded to my pm and she feels that most of the time people wore their own cloths or maybe borrowed from other family members and that occasionally the photographer has them change into something he may of had only for the fact of their clothing not being the right color (even though the pictures were to be in black & white) to highlight their face........So I will assume that the clothing they wore are theirs......... Sal4
Hi Lois...I do know where the picture was taken & where and basically the apox yr, but my cousin got this whole thing going, stating that their clothes were not their own, but the photographers and that is what has been driving me crazy trying to find out their financial status, because if your too poor you would not have fancy clothes to wear to have your picture in.....From the way the picture looks they were not that poor........Who know, these are probably questions we will never know the answers too......Sal4
