Looking for Peter A. de\' Medici

Hi! I am tracing my family tree as a christmas present for my grandmother Lucy de\'Medici Marra. I\'ve heard stories that the \"de\" in front of the Medici means that they were important, but i don\'t believe those people until i see proof. That is what I am looking for! <BR>I\'ve tried looking at many, many geneology sites and i\'ve even paid about $400 in those membership dues, but I can never find him. The only name that comes up is \'Medici\' and Peter is definately \"de\'Medici\", which are two different things. I am becoming very flustered and i cannot keep on spending lots of money on this project. Would the Italian government be of any assistance to my case? or how would i go about finding Peter?

There are 111 De Medici surnamed persons in Italy and distributed from North to South. The dictionary of Italian surnames have no reference to any De or De\' Medici and merely recite Medici as a variation of Medico documented in genova in 1156 and derived from Latin Medicus. Perhaps the internet mnay find a De Medici of import. Peter
