Information on Frank Castelluccio's (Valli) Mother

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me track down information on Frankie Valli's mother. Her name is Maria and I believe she may be a Rinaldi from Oak/Walnut st in Dunmore, PA. I am trying to establish the link in this branch but cant positively ID her. The 1940 Census would provide more information when it is released.

I think the biggest problem is not knowing her maiden name. I believe it to be Rinaldi and did find a Maria that came over and would be the approximate age to marry. Just trying to think of how I can confirm if she is the correct one.

Social security death index after 1963? Maria is often not the given first name but is an add-on...was she firstborn, second or third to determine what her name should be if her parents names are known.

What is the family most used first female names? Any oral history inthe family? Old letters, post cards, patron saints ?? =Peter=

Here is a bio of Frankie Valli. Doesn't mention Maria's maiden name, but says she was an immigrant. Someone might check 1930 census for Newark, NJ.

His father was from Newark and his mother was from Dunmore. Based on family stories I am thinking it is a Rinaldi and I located a possible canidate but dont know if there is anyway to confirm if I found the right one without the 1940 census data. I am polling other family members to see if I can piece together a story or perhaps get a good address.

He was originally "discovered" by Texas Jean Valli the Country and Western singer who had seen Frankie perform in a school play singing "White Christmas". She introduced him to the publisher Paul Kapp as her brother and thus Frankie Valli was born. The eldest of three brothers (himself, Bobby and Alex), the family lived in Newark's North Ward, in particular in the Stephen Crane housing project. Thanks for the info. I found his father and grandfather in Newark, I think I may have his mother from Dunmore, PA but wont be able to confirm yet.

The reason why I am trying to trace this line is because my wife's side traces to Bobby Darin as a 2nd cousin and I find it fascinating that our kids are related to both.

His grandmother lived in Dunmore, not sure about his mother.

I was told by my father many years ago that Frankie Valli was my third cousin and his mothers name was Rinaldi and she lived in Dunmore PA....I never looked into it so I don't know if it's true.

Francis Stephen Castelluccio (Frankie Valli) was born May 3, 1934. This from Frankie Valli's offical bio as well as other sources. The 1937 birthdate is erroneous.

He had two brothers:
Alexander S Castelluccio, who was born February 15, 1939 and passed away on December 17, 2009.
Robert Castelluccio (Bobby Valli) who was born on September 1, 1951.

This info is documented on ancestry. com. Alexander's obituary states the relationships. A news article from New Jersey states Bobby Valli will turn 60 in 2011.

I believe, based on what I have read, his parents were Anthony and Mary (possibly Marie) Castelluccio, and, his Mother's maiden name was Rinaldi.
