hi

also looking for any information on stoathes hall huddersfield, had a great uncle in there from roundabout 1935 till 1968 not sure if he stayed all this time think he possible could have though. His name was ernest cassinelli.

Do you have access to the 1911 census, as he is listed on FindMyPast, aged 12, but I can't see any more without paying them.

yes sorry you spelt it right. He is a bit of a mystery my great uncle he joined as a sea merchant and we think he left after his service i have him on a ship going to america in 1921. There was always a family mystery surrounding him the story went that he had stabbed someone and killed them, we don't know whether this was on board ship or not, We don't think it is cus we have his original sea documents and it says if they were kicked out or any disciplinary then the top right hand corner of the document would be torn off, and it is still in tact. He was supposed to have pleaded insanity to save himself from hanging and got sent to Australia. (what date we do not know). Then my grandad and his brother were supposed to have got him back somehow, we have found him coming in from australian from brisbane to hull in 1935. Which ties in with the stories we were told. We were then told he spent the rest of his life in storthes hall where he died in 1968. so as you see its a bit of a mystery which i would love to solve. so far i have had no luck. thanks for trying though.

Pretty sure you should be able to find hospital records, which may be old enough by now to be accessible. I'll have a bit of a think, I'm pretty sure I have a link somewhere to a useful website.

Honestly, I am not certain what the document(s) is/are. My impression is that they have something to do with his leaving Australia in 1934.

Yes i had all that and we even have his original sea document and the right hand corner is still intact, so we are presuming he committed this offence after his sea legs. the last ship i have him on is to new york in 1921. but why can't i find out when he entered australia or why he entered australia?

yes it is strange... however starting from 1921 the records, and he must be ... I found the entry in USA in 1919 no in 1921... so he left the USA for the Australia after the 1921... but I cannot find it...

sorry my apologies yes it was 1919, we are then presuming he returned to england but no luck in finding him anywhere after that apart from returning from australia in 1935 on the 3rd june. It's a real mystery which i would love to solve
