Hi, my suggestion( in previous topic) abt the probable surname spelling, it is just a suggestion.... also abt Staffieri, just by soundex with the Mary maiden name "Schefflera" because "Schefflera" exist not in Italy....

I know that Donato children:
Darmond, Anna and Theresa Lieze was born in Pennsylvania;

I know that Darmond Lieze lived in Philadelphia, and the him sisters married in Philadelphia:
Anna Lieze ( married at Rocco Medaglia)
and
Marion Lieze( married at Ernesto Nardone)

Now maybe Darmond, Anna and Theresa Lieze (Donato children) was born also in Philadelphia, or in some other Pennsylvania town....
I cannot find the family in 1900 census in Pennsylvania...
as a well the 1910 census in New Jersey....

Before of to say where do Donato's and Mary's names originate in Italy,it need of to know Donato surname right spelling..
you think that Donato "Laisi" and Marianna Ciuffoletti( or Cioffoletti) marriage record could be right?
It is important because if so, by marriage certificate you can descover more abt Donato... I am a bit positive abt that, because the names are no most populars..

I no missed your topic, and after so much search I am pretty sure that Donato was no sicilian;
my opinion is that:
-the Donato surname spelling is LAUSI
-and Marianna maiden name is CIOFFOLETTI;

I believe that they coming from same place:
-Campagna town (or surroundings area, but Campagna is the best probability), Salerno province, Campania region,IT.

I no found the Donato arrival, but maybe in this ship's manifest

line 531 it are a Donato "Zaizio" age 26, labourer, from Campagna, final destination NY..
now "Zaizio" not exist in Italy;

on line 533 it are a Donato LAUSI age 49, shoemaker from Campagna final destination Philadelphia...

it is possible that the surname of young Donato was Lausi also and itwas mistaken on the manifest? the birthyear is abt 1867 and that can explain why Donato is not in WWI draft registration card..

because if he really was born around 1871, he must be listed on the WWI draft registration card...

During my research of family from San Giacomo Degli Schiavoni, I have come across the surname Lizzi. (it is my nickname, so it really stuck out to me!) If you give me a little more information, like approximate years of birth, I can search through the microfilm I now have through the LDS family history library. Were Donato and Maria married in Italy? Do you know if any of their children were born there, as well? The town is very, very small, so searching through the records with just a name to go on is not that difficult! But obviously, the more information I have, the easier it will be

I went back through the film and could not find a Donato, but the birth, death and marriage records for the town of San Giacomo degli Schiavoni in Campobasso are loaded with people who have the last name of LIZZI. I'm not sure if you have found out that the last name was not Lizzi after all, but that surname does in fact exist in Italian records. I'm not sure if this is any help to you...
