If you haven't done it already, I would strongly suggest looking at the Family History Center microfilms that I posted above...

The local office can't do it unfortunately but here is the link for it.

oh ok, sorry i guess i have used to many names in my above post :) but this is a very good thing to know about and will help me with others. I am going to go check on it right now. thank you again.

looked it up earlier and meet to post back sooner but got busy.... after reading that page i do not think i will be able to use that for the people i need help with due to this......

Social Security did not begin keeping records until 1936; therefore, we have no records about people who died before then. We cannot search for records of people born before 1865 unless you provide the Social Security number.

that was stated on that page and another page. :( so far i am thinking writing those letters is the best bet i have, in a post at the begining of this it was stated i could rent and view records at my local family history place, i have found one near me. where can i see a idea of what i might pay to rent and view those? not sure iv looking through those and trying to figure out italian records on my own or sending the letters would be my best bet, might have to do both and does anyone know the amount i should send with the letter requesting records from italy? maybe some one has sent this before and knows about what the cost is, i would hate to not send enough or send way to much. i am a single mom and have to spend my money wisely, i can do it i just done want to send more then is needed because i didnt know what to send.

i did glance at it earlier but have had alot going on today, still had the web page open in another window just took a better look. i have never gone through records like this ( other then what is posted online and much easier to search haha so this will be a first for me. if i am reading it right then this for sure needs to be my next step before doing anything else and i need to look at
FHL INTL Film
1467817

that has the year he was born. i also found on the page where i could look for a local place.....Hours: W 7pm-9pm; Sun 7pm-9pm that is the hours any the closest one is one city over. how do i go about renting them? i am sure i should rent them before i go so that they can get there or is it something in a computer system they have? i am going to try to search the site more to find information on how this works since i am new to this part of it. also since these records are in italian and it will take me longer to go through them i would like to try to prepare for it as much as i can so i can save my self as much time as possible, does anyone know where i might could find a sample of what records from this date in time might have looked like and how they where laid out. for instance although i can not read italian if i know that the family name is always on the top right hand corner and nest to it is such and such and so forth and it is written the same way for every birth record from this era then once i get there to start looking it will not take me as long to try to make sence of what i am looking at. if it wasnt so late in the evening i would take my friend that reads italian with me and i am sure that would speed the process up but she is alot older then me and i would never ask her to get out that late. so i need to prepare for this, i want to get the most out of the 2 hours i will be there. again thank you very much, i can not tell you how excited i was every time i checked my emails today =)
