Surprised by my inability to find out anything here or at Ancestry about the Pellettieri surname. I was in Florence a while back and saw many Pellettierrias or Leather stores. Florence is the Leather capitol of Italy, yet a check of the name showed nothing in the telephone book. In the Duomo, there is a "pellettieri" shop or school on the right side back with the name clearly at the head of the door.
Don't have much more on the family name as my great grandfather, stefano was in the US in 1881 when his youngest of 9 sons, Rocco was born. Rocco was my grandfather. It is said that Stefano went out in the great blizzard of 1888 in New York City and never came home. He was 50 yo in 1881. Just wondering if anyone came across the name.

Above them on the manifest are Giuseppe Pellettieri, age 50; and Rosa Pellettieri, age 40. Possibly Rosa's in-laws?
