Stuck for quite some time (D'Amore surname)

Hello.

I have a subscription to Ancestry.com, but I cannot find any further info on my great-grandfathers. I have made some excellent progress everywhere else, but was looking for some pointers please.

I am trying to search if either great-grandfather had siblings, or parent names. I'm not sure what my next steps would be since I cannot seem to find anything online. Any documents, sources, tips, etc would be MUCH appreciated.

Sunaj - The 1920 census shows Joseph immigrating in 1906. The one ship manifest I have is from 1907. I am thinking that the manifest I have is someone different.

Tessa - Great recommendation. I just ordered the computer extract. Is that something like a scanned copy? Hopefully that will provide me with the accurate birth location and parent names.

Any other tips are much appreciated.

For my next step, do I have to reach out to the birthplace of my great-grandparents? I was reading that I could send a request via writing (with $) to say Brusciano for D'Amore? Any other way to find Italian records?

Yes, it is a photocopy. The names of parents and place of birth should be there, though sometimes terribly misspelled. If you have trouble with it, post it here at the forum and our volunteers will take a crack at it for you.

Thank you again for all the assistance Suanj! I hope that may be him. It's so difficult to truly know since my only living grandparent isnt certain who is siblings are. I do know he had a brother, so this is VERY possible.

I did receive confirmation that 20-days from when I placed the order on the 17th, I should be receiving Joseph's SS-Application. This could help piece together a few answers!

I also recently purchased the death certificate for Anthony (Antonio) D'Amore. I was told it should be mailed to me within 10-14 days, so I am very hopeful that sheds some light as well.

I did find a 1920 Census for Antonio D'Amore. It shows he was married (true), but living with two different people in Niagara Falls. I am wondering if that is him. Niagara Falls is just minutes away from Buffalo, but I'm not 100% sold on if it is him.

My next steps are to visit the Ladder Day Saints Church so order some microfilms. My family tree is coming together decently, but these Italian records are very tough to locate! There are so many variations of name spelling (first and last).

I've shifted my focus to the "Russo" side of my family now while I am waiting for these records. I have my greatgrandma's records entirely (except her immigration), but finding anything on her parents has been very tough. I may make a new post about this one for some clarification

Well the death certificate came for my great-grandfather, Anthony. Ugh, not what I was hoping for. The information is so limited, which is probably the fault of NYs.

The birthdate stated unknown, but 1884. The father's name is Frank (I am at least one step farther), with an unknown mother name and unknown mother maiden name. The actual place of birth as well just shows Italy. My next step is to request the microfilm from Brusciano during his "birth period," so maybe I can get some more answers that way.

I did stumple across a photo while uploading some online. The photo say grandma and grandpa Frank/Maria. I do believe I have at least my great grandmother's first name!

Definately having a difficult time finding the ancestors. I would love to know if Anthony had any brothers or sisters. I really wish my family didn't all pass at such a young age.

Well, I was able to discover a whole bunch of new information. I was in contact with St. Anthony's Church and they were able to supply me with excellent information.

Can anyone shed light if Giuseppe and Pasquale are either brother's or maybe cousins? I am having a difficult time linking the two names together. I have 2 censuses below. There are two Agnes Petrino's. I know

What I lhave:

Agnes E. Petrino (10-1892) married to Antonio D'Amore on 4-6-1913.
Agnes parents are Pasquale and Frances DiGiacomo
This is my great gma

A different Agnes Petrino born in 11-1896
Parents are Guiseppe and Angela Correttore
Guiseppe's parents are Francesco Petrino and Angela Mangione

This 1910 Census in Buffalo shows Frances Petrino (written as Petrina) as a widow.
Living with her are daughter Angeline's (Angela) family -

If Pasquale died between 1900 and 1910 Censuses, you should be able to get a death record and see the names of his parents. That may help to determine his relationship to Giuseppe

Looking at the family you will notice that there are 2 Agnes' listed. One is 18 and probably the daughter of Frances, the other is 20 and appears to be the wife of "Pascal" (Pasquale?) who is age 24. Both Pascal and his wife Agnes were born in Italy.
