Ellis Island Passenger Arrival

I usually have no trouble reading passenger manifests for my ancestors who arrived in the US thru Ellis Island; however, I am researching a cousin who arrived in 1906 with her husband and daughter. I wonder if there is anyone who can read the passenger manifest for Giovanni Musumeci who came to the US with his wife Lucia and daughter Concetta. Lucia's information indicates her maiden name (Conti, Lucia) but also adds "fu Orazio". I have never seen such an entry made on a passenger manifest and was wondering if someone could help me understand the entry. Arrival was July 7, 1906 (SS Indiana). Thank you!

"fu Orazio"

This shows her to be the daughter of the deceased "fu" Orazio (Conti). If he were alive it would have read "di Orazio."

First manifest (Indiana manifest from July) shows Giovanni, Lucia and daughter Concetta (11 months) but they are lined out indicating did not sail.

This reply is for Biff: I was not aware that a line thru a passenger's information meant meant that they did not sail with the ship. Yet they were on a ship that sailed on the 21st of the same month but without Concetta. Strange because the 1920 US census lists Concetta as one of the Musumeci children at age 14??? Another mystery to unravel.

Possible 1908 manifest for Concetta. Line 30. Travelling wih uncle Michele Grasso and Maria Conti (Lucia's sister?). Destination Baltimore to join Giovanni Musumeci. The word nipote before Concetta's name indicates niece.

to Kaylie - not sure if you're still researching Lucia Conti but your post caught my eye. I've been researching my own relations - last name Gallelli from Riposto. My great grandfather Pasquale married a widow who had 2 sons prior - Michele & Rosario Grasso. Michele married Maria Conti (in 1908 or so)who I believe was a sister to Lucia. Maria died not long after - sometime after 1909. Michele remarried a few years later.

I think Biff83 is correct that Michele and Maria escorted Lucia and Giovanni's daughter Concetta to the States in 1908 - to Baltimore where they may have all lived together for a while. Eventually they all moved to Brooklyn. Census in 1910 shows Giovanni and Lucia (referred to a "Louisa") living on Degraw St. By 1920 Giovanni is "John" and Lucia is "Lucy". By 1930 Musumeci is "Mesumesi" and Lucia is back to Lucia.

Does any of this sound correct?

btw, the Musumeci's are listed in Census as living at 93 Degraw in 1910. In 1914 a great uncle of mine is listed in ship manifest as destination 91 Degraw and staying with Michele. So if correct my family overlapped with Lucia for a few years.
