This is my gggranfathers occupation on my ggrandfathers marriage certificate, could someone please tell me what this occupation means, they were living in North Italy in the 1800s.

Lynne was he a caruso a sulfur carrier they would carry sacks of sulfur ore from the sulfur miners after it was mine.

Could it be CARRIERO?

This is a "cart wright", one who makes and repairs carts :-)

In some places I found "carriere" as a persona who has a business with chariots (driver or owner).

instead, if the word is "corriere"= messenger
