have you found the birth certificate/record for the child born in 1896?
I do not have the certificate, but have have found the entry in the NZ Births/Deaths/Marriages Online which indicates that year.
Have you obtained the marriage record for 1904?
I have ordered this since the original post, and I believe it will indicate where she was born, and number of years in NZ, if applicable.
Have you found her death record for 1958 (probably not, b/c it's too current)?
Only the reference to it on NZ BDM online.
Have you found anything for her husband (marriage/death, etc)?
I have found search references on NZ BDM online for his marriage and death.
Do you know where she was buried? Or, if she attended a church?
Since the original post, I found she is buried in Opotiki which matches up with what I know and the information given in the post further down. I have a photo of the gravestone of her and her husband.
Are there accessible immigration records for New Zealand??
Not sure on this, anyone else know?
There are so many places you might find clues..............you never know how you'll wind your way back to Italy and the very record you'd like to find.
Good luck......I know this is intimidating, but it's the nature of genealogy-hunting!
And, with persistence and patience, you might just find what you're looking for!
Thanks, as I have mentioned I have got a bit further since making the original post. Once I have the marriage certificate I will have more to go on, including whther she was born in NZ or Italy.
